Our story

The Snohomish Candle Company is a family owned and operated business located in the historic town of Snohomish, WA. Founder Joe Moore began making candles as a hobby soon after he retired. After determining that palm wax was his favorite wax to work with, Joe perfected his craft. Family and friends started receiving candles as gifts, and encouraged Joe to go into business. With the help of his wife Shannon, Joe started the Snohomish Candle Company in 2012.

In December 2022 Joe decided it was time to retire…again. Enter the Stuckey’s. Over the years we have enjoyed having Joe and Shannon’s beautiful and unique candles in our home, never dreaming that we would one day be crafting them ourselves. When we heard that Joe and Shannon were going to retire, we quickly let them know we were interested in becoming the new owners of Snohomish Candle Co. Joe and Shannon taught us everything they knew about making palm wax candles, and here we are! And one of the best things is…we are also family to Joe and Shannon. What a blessing to be able to keep it in the family!

A little bit about us…John is a retired Bellevue Fire Captain. He has spent the last 15 years of his retirement traveling around the country administering promotional tactical exams for fire departments. He figured it was time to really retire, and is enjoying this new adventure, literally in his own backyard. Laurie has been a stay at home wife, mother and grandmother. Over the years she has been involved in many creative endeavors, and has dreamed of taking on numerous others. Somehow making candles just fits!

Our desire as a family owned and operated business is to craft the same high-quality candles and provide the great customer service Joe and Shannon were known for. We really enjoy each step of the process that goes into crafting our candles and we hope it shows in each and every one we make. <><
